About the Scriptorium
Darkness drags its tired feet along the cold stone floors of the cavernous room. The crackling voice of the fireplace recollects old grandfatherly stories that drag on throughout the night. Faintly piercing the thick air of this old room, the firelight illumines countless shelves containing dusty scrolls and manuscripts. Recessed amidst these many shelves is a desk, lighted by a single flickering candle. There a man sleeps, his head leaning upon his arm. In his hand is a quill, exhausted from constant scratching upon rough parchment. This is the Scriptorium. Many secrets hide within the dusty parchments of this room. Scholars, scribes and students seeking to learn turn to them to be enlightened. The wisdom and knowledge contained within this massive room dates back to the earliest minds ever to record their thoughts on paper. Sacred and secular, practical and impractical, old and new, deep and shallow. These are but a few characteristics of the knowledge found in the Scriptorium.
I am that sleeping man: a student seeking to understand what can be known about the mind of man and the mind of God. I spend my days searching through these many scrolls and manuscripts. The more I search, the less I know. Before this infinite reservoir of knowledge, I stand equipped to draw with but a small pale of a questioning mind.
My interest range of interests includes philosophy, theology, psychology, civics, literature, economics, science, technology, politics, history, rhetoric, art, music and ethics. But I am not content with knowledge alone. I want to know how it affects the way I live every single day of my life.
So, I invite you to search with me the minds of great men and of God. Let us learn, think and change our lives, based upon what truth we find.
